Trevor Godwin: I have been involved with property most of my life and although I only got into the property industry in 2007, I have always been involved with investment properties for many years.
In 2004 my wife joined a real estate company in Ballito and I decided to write the estate agents board exam with her just for fun. In 2007 we decided to open a national franchise estate agency with a few partners. As timing would have it I started real estate in one of the worst years ever as the property boom had just crashed. I often remind myself that as I did well in 2008 when everyone was doom and gloom, I can do well no matter what the market does.
Clients often tell us the market is quiet or they hear things are slow. I would not know as I do not follow the market, I sell property. Good times or bad times, I sell property.
I had some fun while working with one of our National Franchises. In 2008 I was in the top 10 sales agents for the year in KZN and in 2009 I was the top performing agent in KZN. Having left the group I sometimes miss the competitiveness.
In 2010 Lucile and I decided it was time to go it alone and we opened Godwin Property Group. Our Ballito office in Ballito did well and continues to do well. In 2013 we decided to move up to the Midlands for a better quality of life. Having lived up here for a year I decided to open a Midlands office. Louise and I now run the Midlands sales office and all our administration is done by our Ballito Office. Our Midlands office is run from our farm office in Karkloof.
We love living on our small holding in Karkloof and I am passionate about selling mostly farms, smallholdings and other lifestyle properties in the greater Midlands area.
